What is YiHeng Fragrance?
A combination obtained through bringing together raw materials or simple notes, the harmony of which depends on the balance and olfactory intensity of each note.
It is composed of three moments in its life: top / head notes, middle / heart notes, and bottom / base notes, that are composed by an expert perfumer with knowledge of: Evaporation processes & intended use of the fragrance.
You can think of it like a musical composition that has 3 different movements. The key of the harmony lies in the transitions between them but also in their consistency or substance by their own.
TOP NOTES
They create the first impression, so they need to give the initial sparks and make an impact. The Top notes are made up of lighter molecules that evaporate the fastest.
Typical ingredients are: citrus notes, aromatic / herbal notes, green notes, spicy notes.
MIDDLE NOTES
Middle notes add character to the composition. They follow the Top notes and serve as a transition to the base notes.
Typical ingredients: floral notes, fruity notes, spicy notes, green notes, aromatic/herbal notes.
base NOTES
base notes support the Top & Middle notes, they are their foundations. They evaporate the slowest, and have the strongest and most long-lasting power, thus, determining much of the character of a fragrance.
Typical ingredients: amber notes, woody notes, sweet notes, musky notes, leather notes.

Perfumery uses a very large range of raw materials (about 1500 different ones at least). They can be divided by their origin:
Olfactory Families
Olfactory families allow individual perfumes to be classified according to their key olfactory characteristics.
They are created either by grouping together raw materials (like flowers, woods, aromatic or citric fruits) or by taking inspiration from traditional accords (oriental or chypre, for example).

NATURAL PERFUME
A natural perfume is a fragrance derived completely from minimally processed natural materials, containing only pure essential oil. It doesn’t last for a very long time, but it’s 100% biodegradable.
SYNTHETIC PERFUME
Synthetic perfumes are artificial compounds / materials that contain Synthetic + Natural scent ingredients + Alcohol + Water. They last a lot longer than natural perfumes and they are more environment friendly because they don't come entirely from natural resources. However, they can be regarded as harmful or unhealthful by certain groups of consumers that don't understand well their procedence.
Since science has learnt to emulate most of the molecules in nature, perfumery today uses mostly synthetic components due to price and regulation restrictions affecting natural ingredients.
FRAGRANCE CONCENTRATION
The final product that a customer will apply on their skin contains a percentage of YiHeng concentrated essence or fragrance mixed with alcohol. Depending on the dosage of fragrance and alcohol, the smell will last more or less on the skin and the name of the product will vary.
