FAQ
What is LLLT? (Low Level Laser Therapy )
Low level Laser therapy
Low level laser therapy, or LLLT, is a medical treatment that employs a "cold"laser totreat a variety of medical conditions. Since the 1950s, more than 40 independent studies have produced evidence that low level laser therapy reduces inflammation, improves circulation, and nourishes cellular tissue.
Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) is a form of alternative medicine that applies low-level (low-power) lasers or light-emitting
diodes (LEDs) to the surface or orifices of the body. Whereas "high-power" lasers are used in laser medicine to cut or destroy tissue, low-power lasers are claimed to relieve pain or to stimulate and enhance cell function.
The effects of LLLT appear to be limited to a specified set of wavelengths of laser, and administering LLLT below the dose range does not appear to be effective.
How it works?
LLLT works predominately on a protein in mitochondria (cytochrome c oxidase) to increase ATP and reduce oxidative stress. A cascade of mitochondrial and intracellular downstream effects lead to improved tissue repair and reduced inflammation.
How much is enough, how much is too much?
There is a dose response: not enough power density and there is no effect, too much and there can be inhibitory effects which can slow down healing and lose the anti-inflammatory effects.Recommend Products
