1.How it works?
The Dermapen is a hand-held medical device for clinic use. It has a disposable piece that is inserted into the top of the device that contains many tiny sterile needles. These needles penetrate into the skin at different levels depending on the part of the face, depth of scar or the condition being treated. This causes a micro injury to the skin which is turn causes healing. This healing releases new collagen and elastin and growth factors, which cause the remodelling & breaking down old of collagen and scar tissue.
This micro injury also allows temporary fine channels to be created in the skin. These channels carry up to 80% more topical nutrients for delivery deep within the fibroblasts to feed the underlying cells found in the deeper layers of the skin. This increased and even absorption of the active ingredients used during treatment into the skin creates stimulated repair and faster resurfacing and faster healing results.
After treatment, the thousands of little microscopic needle points in your skin close within the hour. 2.Does it hurt?
No, not at all. Prior to your Dermapen treatment, we will remove make-up and deeply cleanse your skin using an antiseptic and apply an anaesthetic cream until your skin is numb. This makes the whole process pain free. You will feel the Dermapen on your skin, so you will feel sensation, but no pain.
3.How Many Treatments will I need?
Every person is different and the number of treatments needed does vary depending on the condition being treated, but the following are very good guidelines:

4.What does treatment include?
At Faceworks, Dermapen Skin Micro Needling is a 90 minute treatment with our Aesthetician which includes face cleansing and application of numbing cream – ensuring treatment is completely painless. During the micro-needling procedure itself we select a NeoStrata serum for use appropriate to the skin concern we are treating. We use the Bionic Serum for acne scarring, the Illuminating Serum for pigmentation and skin brightening and the Firming Collagen Booster Serum for superior anti-ageing benifets. The treatment is followed by a post-treatment skin quenching, cooling hyaluronic gel mask, for soothing and relaxing the skin. This also greatly helps with reducing skin redness after the procedure.
5.What can I expect after treatment?
The treated area will be red for 12-48 hours and your skin may feel warmer and tighter than usual. You should keep your face free of make-up that day. After that the redness can be minimised with a concealer. The skin may flake slightly 2-3 days after the procedure.
6.How long do the results last?
The results from micro-needling skin remodelling can go on for months after each Dermapen treatment. Results can be seen from one to eight weeks later. Typically you will see results after your first treatment.Lasting and more significant results will occur after 4-6 treatments when spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Your skin naturally heals itself every 45 days, so with micro-needling stimulation changes can be effective and ongoing. 7.Should I Prepare My Skin Before Having A Dermapen Treatment?

Traditional dermal rollers have a fixed needle depth. The Dermapen can vary the depth from 0.25 to 2.5 mm so a wider variety of conditions can be treated, making results better. This also makes it easier to treat under the eyes, up the sides of the nose and above the top lip for smokers lines.The Dermapen has disposable needles with no risk of cross infection.
