Hans Wegner's "Wishbone" chair (also known as the "Y" or "CH24") was one of the first Wegner
chairs to be manufactured for Carl Hansen & Son in 1949.The design of the chair is said to be
inspired by classic portraits of Danish merchants seated in Ming chairs, and can be made from a
variety of different materials such as soaped beech, ash or maple, oiled oak, american cherry and
walnut.
Wegner's Wishbone chair is typically very light and compact, and features curved back legs with a
semicircular top rail. Due to the chair's unique design, the process of building the chair requires a
great deal of craftsmanship.
