VACANCYThe Big Truck Development Center (BTDC) in Nijmegen is responsible for developing theproducts manufactured in Nijmegen. This involves designing new products and constructingand testing prototypes. Existing developments are improved and validated. The BTDC alsohas a Special Product Engineering Department (SPED) which develops special truck modelsbased on client-specific requirements.
We are recruiting for the following position at the BTDC:
Engineer specializing in vehicle driveline technology
Role objectives:The engineer is responsible for developing engines, gearboxes, drive/steering axles andcooling systems for the Big Truck product line. This requires a combination of clear systemvision and the drawing up of designs. We are looking for a designer who can workautonomously to create state-of-the-art designs and devise innovative solutions. A furtherimportant element is active engagement in a multifunctional team that focuses on solvingclients’ problems.The engineer also holds an administrative role in the provision of correct BOM informationusing the internal CORE product data management system. You will be involved in the entireprocess from design and testing to assembly and aftercare. You will have a meticulousapproach to documentation and strive to provide a complete and viable product. As aspecialist, you will hold (joint) responsibility for quality monitoring measures for drivelinesystems throughout the entire product range.
Duties:The duties of a standard products engineer include the following:· (Joint) development of a state-of-the-art vision for the systems.· Creating and improving concepts and designs.· Making technical calculations relating to vehicle dynamics and system cooling.· Providing support to the purchasing department and suppliers when choosing andchanging components.· Supporting process engineers from the assembly lines.· Specifying test and inspection activities (together with test engineers and inspectors).
Required qualifications and experience:· Technical college/university qualification in VEHICLE AND DRIVE TECHNOLOGY· Five years’ work experience· Experience in the design and manufacture of motor vehicles· English language skills (spoken and written)· Extensive experience with the Pro-Engineer CAD program· Familiarity with Office packages (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)
