The Fecal Occult Blood Test Kit FOB(Colloidal Gold) is a lab test used to check stool samples for hidden (occult) blood.
Occult blood in the stool may indicate colon cancer or polyps in the colon or rectum — though not all cancers or polyps bleed.
Typically, occult blood is passed in such small amounts that it can be detected only through the chemicals used in a fecal occult blood test.
Why it's done?
Your doctor may recommend a fecal occult blood test to:
Screen for colon cancer. If you're age 50 or older and at average risk of colon cancer, your doctor may recommend a fecal occult blood test every year to screen for colon cancer. In addition, however, you may need other screening tests that allow the doctor to examine the colon directly.
evaluate possible causes of unexplained anemia. Anemia is a condition in which there aren't enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to your tissues. Sometimes a fecal occult blood test is used to determine whether bleeding in your digestive tract — such as a bleeding ulcer — is contributing to anemia
1. Bring the specimen and other facilities to room temperature before testing.
2. Remove the test strip from the pouch, and immerse it into the stool specimen, and drop it out after 8-10 seconds (do not cover MAX line)
3. Read the test result within 5 minutes. Do not read results after more than 10 minutes.
[Interpretation of results]
Negative: only one colored band appears on the control region. No apparent band on the test region.
Positive: In addition to a pink colored control band, a distinct pink colored band will also appear in the test region.
Invalid: A total absence of color in both regions is an indication of procedure error and/or test reagent deterioration.
[Storage and stability]
The test kit can be stored at temperatures between 2 to 30°C in the sealed pouch to the date of expiration. The test kit should be kept away from direct sunlight and heat
[Results]
Your doctor will review the results of the fecal occult blood test and then share the results with you.
Negative result. A fecal occult blood test is considered negative if no blood is detected in your stool samples. If you had the test to screen for colon cancer and you're at average risk — you have no colon cancer risk factors other than age — your doctor may recommend waiting one year and then repeating the test.
Positive result. A fecal occult blood test is considered positive if blood is detected in your stool samples. You may need additional testing — such as a colonoscopy — to locate the source of the bleeding.
[Precaution ]

For in vitro diagnostic use of FOB specimen only. If at the menstrual period, or hematuria or there's some bleed in oral and nasal cavity, false positive will happen.
If the digestive tract is the interim hemorrhage, then if testing at this period, it may be negative.
If there's very little blood in digestive tract, it will may be negative.
If mistakes in technology or operations, at the same time, there is also some interfering material at samples, which will cause the wrong result.
This test strip is just the selection of qualitative of the fecal occult blood, but can not determine the blood quantity in samples.
Read the result within 5 minutes, do not read the result after 10 minutes
Do not use the test kit beyond the expiry date. It should not be reused.
