Habitat: Shrubberies are grown on open hillsides, usually on hot dry slopes. Berberis lyceum is a fairly hardy plant, tolerating winter temperatures falling occasionally as low as -15°c. Grows well in heavy clay soils.
Main Function :

- Its ethno medicinal uses include its use for treatment of jaundice, diabetes, eye infections, fractured bones, internal wounds, diarrhea, rheumatism, stomachache.
- The plant has a wide range of biological activities including anti-hyperglycemic, anti-hyperlipidemic, anticancer and anti-tumor, wound and bone healing, antimicrobial, anti-coccidial, antioxidant, hypertensive, immunity enhancing, anti-urolithic, and anthelmintic and hepatoprotective.
