Introduction:
Biodieselreferstoavegetableoil-oranimalfat-baseddieselfuelconsistingoflong-chainalkyl(methyl,ethyl,orpropyl)esters.Biodieselistypicallymadebychemicallyreactinglipids(e.g.,vegetableoil,animalfat)withanalcoholproducingfattyacidesters.
Biodieselismeanttobeusedinstandarddieselenginesandisthusdistinctfromthevegetableandwasteoilsusedtofuelconverteddieselengines.Biodieselcanbeusedalone,orblendedwithpetrodieselinanyproportions.Biodieselblendscanalsobeusedasheatingoil.
Application:
Biodieselcanbeusedinpureform(B100)ormaybeblendedwithpetroleumdieselatanyconcentrationinmostinjectionpumpdieselengines.Newextremehigh-pressure(29,000psi)commonrailengineshavestrictfactorylimitsofB5orB20,dependingonmanufacturer.Biodieselhasdifferentsolventpropertiesthanpetrodiesel,andwilldegradenaturalrubbergasketsandhosesinvehicles(mostlyvehiclesmanufacturedbefore1992).Comparedtootherfossildieseloils,thebiodieselthatweprovidehastheadvantagesasfollows:
1.NonbenzenoidandNonaromatic-ring,Non-toxic,Biodegradationtraits;
2.Recycling,alleviatingthedependenceonthefossil-dieseloils;
3.Burningmoreefficientlyinthegasengine.Emissionofparticulates,carbonmonoxideandnitrogenoxideshasbeenobviouslyreduced.
4.Highercetanenumber,improvingtheignitionandlubricateability,whichbringshigherengineefficiencyandtheendurance.
5.Flashpointofbiodieselismuchhigherthanthefossil-diesel's,whichhastheverygoodpreservationandtransportationsecurity.
