FAQ
1.What is Mintti Electronic Stethoscope ?
Mintti Electronic Stethoscope is an accessory for connecting your stethoscope to mobile devices, tablets, computers and other recording or audio devices. This allows you to record from your stethoscope and use headphones to listen to the stethoscope while you record and then use your same headphones to listen to playback. So you have your stethoscope, your mobile or laptop device and headphones and they all play nicely together. (only can support mobile devices at present)2.Which devices can I use with Mnitti iSteso Series?
Great question! Virtually anything with a 3.5mm audio input jack. You can use it with any iPhone. In the Android world, it should work with any smartphone. We say "should" only because we can't test every Android phone in the world. But more than likely, any Android smartphone you own that can record and play sounds. 3.How does it connect with devices?
It connects into the 3.5mm headset jack. Every device out there has a headset jack these days and any audio App can usually capture input from the jack. 4.What about sound quality of recordings? Which devices work best?
Hmm, that's an interesting question. Because we're using analog signals, the audio recording quality depends on the quality of the device you're using. In our experience, new iPhones have super good audio quality and older ones too. In the Android world, it's more varied. So what we're saying is that you have to experiment a bit with your own equipment since there are too many Android devices in the world to get too specific. If you find that your device is really good, let us know and we'll edit this answer.5.What about Telemedicine and using it with Apps and software?
So we've covered recording sounds and sending them around the world. Here's the thing about Telemedicine – some people want to do live listening to a stethoscope. The problem is that many of the video conferencing systems out there compress the audio channel.
It sounds OK when you're talking. But when you want to shove a fat bass signal from a beating heart into the compression
algorithm, it just goes bonkers. What do we mean? It just doesn't sounds very good. Still sounds like a heartbeat, but not one we'd be proud of. Lung sounds are more forgiving, so you might be OK sending lung sounds down a videoconferencing audio line.
Meanwhile, recording and sending sounds for telemedicine is actually pretty advantageous. You wouldn't have the doc sitting there while the nurse takes a blood pressure. So some docs we know are asking their nurses on the remote end to do some standard asucultation recordings, put them into the record, and when they get on the videoconference, they have the recordings and can listen there and then from the record or email attachments or Whatsapp messages, should they decide that heart or lung sounds are relevant. It's actually more efficient than live listening in many ways.6.If we need samples or want to place orders, what should we do?
