Total electrode coke, has high consumer properties, is characterized by a low content of volatile substances and heteroelements: vanadium, iron, silicon, sulfur - which are the most undesirable components during further calcination and production of the anode paste for the aluminum industry. It is used as a component of raw materials in the production of aluminum. It is the most popular brand of coke.
The use of coke:
- the aluminum industry, where coke serves as a reducing agent (anode mass) in the smelting of aluminum from aluminum ores (bauxite). Specific consumption of coke 550 - 600 kg / t of aluminum.
- raw materials for the manufacture of electrodes used in steelmaking furnaces;
- to obtain carbides (calcium, silicon), which are used to obtain acetylene;
- production of grinding materials;
in the manufacture of conductors, refractories, etc.
- sulfur and sour coke are used as reducing agents and sulfidizing agents,
- special varieties of coke are used as structural material for the manufacture of chemical equipment operating in aggressive environments, in rocketry.
Petroleum coke is a complex dispersed system in which the dispersed phase consists of crystalline formations (crystallites) of different sizes and ordering in the mutual arrangement of molecules and pores, and the dispersion medium is a continuous gaseous or liquid phase filling the pores of crystallites, from which adsorption-solvate layers are formed, or solvate complexes.
Despite the unequal conditions for the preparation, the crystallites are close in size and are packets of parallel layers (planes).
