Corten steel is a weathering steel which develops a self protecting rust patina when exposed to theweather elements. The rust patina resists corrosion, requires no treatment or weather-proofing, and does not compromise structural strength of the steel. Unlike raw steel, Corten steel is corrosion resistant due to its alloy composition - it will not show bubbling, flaking or peeling, which normally occurs with raw steel.
