Bauxite oreis mainly composed of alumina,it isa hydrated alumina withimpurities, which is a kind of earthy mineral, it is White or off-white. It isbrownish yellow or reddish due toincludeiron .Its density is 3.45g/cm3, hardness 1 ~ 3. It is opacityand brittle.Itis very hard todissolve in water, but it is soluble in sulfuric acidand sodium hydroxide solution.It is mainlybeused for aluminum smelting and refractory.
