Foundry (Casting) Iron differs from conventional Pig Iron by application purposes. Whereas Pig Iron is virtually semi-finished Steel, the mentioned Foundry Iron is only furnace charge material often comprising of different casting irons for the purpose of attaining highly fluid, fillable and soft FeSi alloy perfect for casting into complicated moulds. Fewer factories produce Foundry (Casting) Iron compared with conventional Pig Iron, especially when extra low Sulphur and Phosphorous are required.
