Since ancient times, the Ukrainian economy has been based on grain exports, among which wheat dominates (up to 40%). Fertile black soil is the main wealth of our country, and the position of Ukraine as an agrarian country is firmly rooted on the world stage.However, only in the epoch of independence of Ukraine, the export volumes of Ukrainian grain reached the world level. In Soviet times, as it is known, production in agriculture was strictly regulated by the state order. At the same time, in the new Ukraine, the old farms almost completely ousted the old collective farms from the grain market: such world-famous enterprises as Topfer, Serna, Cargill began to represent Ukraine far beyond its borders and made it famous as the world grain basket.Gradually, huge agricultural holdings were created in Ukraine, which both grew grain on their premises, collected it, transported it in large quantities, and formed ship lots for export, and prepared all documents. These enterprises began to process grain, so there appeared oil and fat plants. There was a tendency to keep all stages of grain production in the same hands: fields, elevators, cargo transshipment complexes, their own port structures. Thus, the volume of exports of Ukrainian grain exceeded the volume of Soviet times 40 times.
