Wear resistance: After ultraviolet coating treatment, the wear resistance of PC board can be increased several times, similar to that of glass. Hot forming can be cold-formed into a certain radian without cracks, and can be further cut or drilled. Anti-theft, anti-shooting PC can be pressed together with glass into safety windows for hospitals, schools, libraries, banks, embassies and prisons. Glass can improve the hardness and wear resistance of plates. PC can also be pressed with other PC layers or acrylates for traditional security applications.
Ultraviolet protection: Ultraviolet protection, only some single-layer surface yellowing or dimming under long-term sunlight. It is also suitable for low temperature resistant materials. PC board has excellent thermal insulation performance. Under the same thickness, the thermal insulation performance of PC board is about 16% higher than that of glass, which can effectively prevent heat energy transmission. Anti-combustion performance: PC board has good flame retardancy, does not produce toxic gases when burning, and its smoke concentration is lower than that of wood and paper. After 30 seconds of combustion, the burning length of the sample is not more than 25 mm, and the flammable gas is decomposed only when the hot air reaches 467 C. Therefore, it is considered that the fire fighting performance is qualified by relevant measurement.
Resistance to chemical substances: no reaction to acid, alcohol, fruit juice, beverage; resistance to gasoline and kerosene, no cracks or loss of light transmission within 48 hours of contact. But the chemical corrosion resistance of some chemicals (such as amine, ester, halogenated hydrocarbon, paint diluent) is poor.
Light weight: The density of polycarbonate is about 1.29/cm3, which is half lighter than glass. If it is made into hollow PC board, its quality is 1/3 of plexiglass and 1/15-1/12 of glass. Hollow PC boards have excellent stiffness and can be used as bone components.
